Don't Call it a Comeback
October 22nd, 2037
Offen Sichtlich der Kunstgriff

Hi everybody! Offen Sichtlich der Kunstgriff here! I'm so excited to be back! Well .. I suppose you may wonder then, "Where has Offie been?"" Or maybe you've been wondering that. Hmm. I kind of hope you have. I just kind of disappeared there for a bit. It would be nice if Offie was missed. I mean, you all have lives, and I suppose a baseball blogger is not so important that his absence would make a tangible difference in your life, but well . . . it's nice to have your absence noted. Well no longer! I am back in Crusaders Land, and will be bringing you news about your favorite team once again! I am also back living with mother. She said she did not miss me.

Okay, so the 2037 season is over. I can't say I'm happy about how it ended. I mean, it's nice to have a rivalry like the one we've developed with the San Fernando Bears ... but ... I really thought we had that series. That Miguel Ramos and Feliciano Rafael duel in game four was incredible. Rafael seemed to get out of jam after jam. We made him throw 113 pitches in less than six innings. The Crusaders had 9 base runners over that span, but failed to score. Usually, that makes you feel like the game is slipping away from you, but Ramos was just so incredible, like he as all year. I'm not sure if I agree with the decision to remove him after seven and a third because of his pitch count. This is the playoffs! But it wouldn't have mattered. He wouldn't have been pitching in the 13th anyway. And the right guy was! Ricardo Baez was terrific all year! Sometimes you just get beat. And poor Guus Alberink. He's such a nice guy. At least he gets to go home to Aruba in the off season. After we scored in the bottom of the thirteenth, I had a little hope, but no ...See, it really felt like we were going to go up 3-1. That would have been huge. We've always gotten in holes against the Bears, so a big series lead would have felt like an inevitable win.

And game seven! Wow! It's hard to reconcile how great that game was a versus the pain of having the rug pulled out from under you like that. To go up by 2 in the top of the 10th (after letting the Bears claw back into it late) only to allow 3 in the bottom of the frame. Still, if you;re gonna lose I guess, do it in spectacular fashion. A third straight seven game series versus the Bears. Three games decided in extra innings. Three more in the ninth. So many in the last or second to lat at bat. Wow. I just love baseball. I'm looking forward to next season. Until then!
