Talon Talk 1997.2 April over...

Post by felipe » Mon Sep 20, 2010 9:37 am

And the gloves have come off...following last sims 3-6 record, new (old) Talon GM Hopkins has broken his month old vow of a strict 'hands-off' policy regarding the Talon lineup.

"Who plays this guy over this guy? If anything, he's slightly worse at everything! And look at this, a gold glove shortstop rotting on the bench. a gold glove second baseman playing shortstop, all to give this guy some at-bats! Lunacy! And why the hell isn't the Thrill playing? I don't care how good this guy is...he's certainly no Will Clark!

"What a bunch of incompetent boobs who made these decisions...its a good thing I'm back, to put some direction on this ship...just shameful."explained GM Hopkins.

The Talon still occupy first (after the first month, three sims) in the Johnson League Midwest, at 14-12, a game up on the Omaha Barnstormers. Its hoped that the GM's erratic tinkering does not derail a steady start to the '97 campaign.

Restored starter Andy Nebraska is enjoying his return to the Talon rotation in 1997, putting up two quality starts out of three, with a rotation leading 2.83 ERA. Number Four starter, David Chappel, is the pitcher of the month for the Talon with a fine 4-0 record and 3.89 ERA in 5 starts in April.

The real heroes of the first month are the Talon bullpen, who collectively hold the leagues best bullpen ERA at 2.89, with a 3-2 record and 10 saves.

The offence, despite having some real MMBA stars, (Belinda, Peralta), is sputtering as of late...it's expected that GM Hopkins' frequent expletive laden tirades will encourage the Talon bats to wake up in May.

Bah, Calfo's fine at shortstop! Krok should never see the light of day.
