The Investigation, Part 1

GM Rob McMonigal was glad the fallout from the Thum interview with Valerie hadn't gone quite as bad as he'd feared it might. Thum was a justifiably angry veteran who, if Rob was being honest, probably hadn't been treated as well as he could have been over his tenure as GM.

Missing the 3000 hits celebration was definitely a mistake. One that McMonigal wouldn't do if Thum managed to get to the 3500 hit mark. They'd throw a damned parade the next day, even if the parade was on the Atoll.

Okay, maybe not if it happened in Louisville. They probably use duct tape instead of ticker tape. Imagine anyone living there understanding what a stock was.

Now that some of the end of season decisions were over, including the hard calls to players getting released, McMonigal could turn back to the inexplicable actions of his soon to be ex-Assistant General Manager, Xi-tong Su-Tu. He'd recently found out that Su-Tu had kept veteran catcher Klooster off the team's activities, for reasons known only to him.

I have got to pay closer attention to the things I delegate out, thought McMonigal.

That had been yet another uncomfortable conversation with Davies, as she prepped a story on the free agents McMonigal wasn't going to re-sign. He'd tried calling Roelof but the man and his agent wouldn't return any calls. A pity, because McMonigal felt he could be a great value signing for the 2058 team, even if his injury prevented him from being the player he was for Mexico City a few seasons ago.

It was time to do a deep dive into Su-Tu.
