Alomogordo, Somewhere – The Yellow Springs Nine are pleased to congratulate the 2055 Alomogordo Road Runners for making the playoffs for the third consecutive year, a feat not performed by the team since 2024-2026. The team finished second yet again, with a record of 44-24, their best yet in a three year run of excellence and 3 wins better than their 2054 Championship season.

Unfortunately for the Road Runners, their division foes, the Port Arthur Pythons of the Jacksonville Organization were too much for them in the opening round, beating them in seven close-fought games. The Pythons were insanely good in 2055, going 51-13 in the regular season.

Stars of the Road Runners included the following players:

Closer Francisco Ramirez, 1-2, 18 saves, 1.02 WHIP. The 10th round selection from the 2055 draft was asked to close games after being a starter in high school and thrived in the role, going 18 for 18 in save situations and showing great promise at just 17.

Starting Pitcher Joh Eilers, 7-3, 2.63 ERA, 1.09 WHIP. The 17th round selection led the team in wins and had 8 of his 11 starts as quality starts. Also just 17, he's pitched his way into the conversation, though his control is a definite concern.

Starting Pitcher =https://statsplus.net/brewster/player/ ... Bin Shafiq, 5-3, 2.88 ERA, 1.08 WHIP. While the playoffs were a disaster for the young man (0-2, 11.74 ERA), Shafiq was strong in the regular season, using his 4 pitches well and showing the promise that made him a scouting discovery in 2052.

Third Baseman/DH Cameron Graham, .343, 20 HR, .994 OPS, 61 RBIs. The third pick for the Nine of the 2054 draft, Graham will be moving on as he's turned 21. He's grown into his power, doubling his homers from 2054 and also raising his batting average from .278 while cutting his Ks nearly in half.

Third Baseman Hilel Bahir, .306, 9 HR, .840 OPS. The fifth round pick from 2055 had a solid rookie season, and will also be moving up to Short A in 2056, as he is also 21. His strong defense at the hot corner will keep him in the Nine's plans.

Infielder/Outfielder Kentaro Muto, .316, 10 HR, .885 OPS, 2.4 WAR. An 8th round selection in 2055 for the Nine, Muto played 5 different positions for the Road Runners, primarily second base and right field. His strong versatility and good bad gives him a wide variety of paths to Ohio, if he can keep playing them well.

The "Dream Team" of Rookie coaches, Manager Angel Cuevas, Miguel Datiz, and Serge Gueguen remain in place and have all had their contracts extended. "I couldn't be happier with the work they're doing with our newest players," said GM Rob McMonigal. "I want to keep them -and their success – in place for a long time. This is the Culture of Winning in effect. It starts right here in Rookie ball."

"I'm pleased for the boys, even if we couldn't get past the Pythons," said Cuevas. "They just put the squeeze on us." Asked about next season, he only smiled. "We'll do what we've been doing down here for the past few years – take what we're given and give them the best chance to become Big League Ballplayers."
