Nov 14, 2051: Yellow Springs – People close to the YS9 front office are saying that veteran starter Carlos Valle could well be in line to decide to stick with the team. The 38-year-old veteran recently declined a player option to stay with the Nine, sending fans screaming for the hills with pitchforks and bayonets in search of the vacant GM.
“We have every intention of making Carlos happy,” the team said in a prepared statement that made no impact on fans attitudes whatsoever.
Valle, who is a three-time Nebraska winner, went 12-6 last season, and is the franchise’s record holder with 249 victories. To say he's been the heart of the team's pitching staff since he first arrived is not going too far. “The idea of seeing him an another uniform makes me want to puke,” said Langston Mcreedsy, a local hibachi cook. "And I don't puke easy."
Though details were not released, news today is that the club and veteran may have reached an agreement that would keep Valle in Yellow Springs for at least one more year. Team officials seem upbeat, but other scuttlebutt is that the pitcher’s agents are simply toying with the YS9 leadership’s emotions as retaliation for being overly smug. It's an emotion most fans can understand.
"It totally sucks," Mcreedsy added. "I mean, they aren't even pretending that winning the Heartland is a big deal anymore. So, really, what gives?"
