Top Young Arm Out For Season

April 14, 2048: Yellow Springs – Last year it was Carlos Valle. A few years back it was Carlos Pineda, or was it Ernesto Ramos. Whatever order, all three succumbed to big injuries that lost them pretty much all of a season. This season, it’s last year’s Gillstrom winner, right-hander Loan Duval, who had doctors confirm a flexor tendon injury that will require surgical repair. Recovery time is unclear, but the medical staff suggests that this kind of surgery can sometimes require more than a year to properly regain full strength.

“It’s a big injury,” said manager Alberto Sanchez. “Right now we’re more worried for Loan than worried about a timeline. We hope him a speedy recovery, and hope he knows everyone here is behind him 100%.”

Duval, who has dual citizenship in both the US and his native Haiti, began receiving supportive posts almost immediately. After leading the league in ERA in 2047, he had suffered a bit of a rocky start to the season, posting a 5.40 ERA in his fifteen innings of work. His strikeouts were down, walk rate up. “This is a game of adjustments,” he had said prior to his last start. Now it appears he’ll be waiting a bit for his next adjustment.

Molina Promoted from Indianapolis

The injury means that 25-year-old Iván Molina will be making his BBA debut next week. The team has not announced a rotation schedule, so what game is uncertain. Molina is a hard-throwing right-hander whose fastball can sit at 100-101 MPH, and who augments that with a splitter and a curve ball that scouts say are both big-league level. He is 2-0 at AAA this year, with a 1.07 ERA.
