Speedy 1B Blasts Pair or Triples
June 29, 2045: MADISON, WI – First baseman Robert Chenoweth hit two triples in 2043—his rookie season. He followed that up with two more as a second-year guy. Yesterday the Englishman from Derby matched those outputs with a triple off Juan Lopez in the fourth inning and another off Jorge Feliciano in the seventh inning—both on blasts into the deepest parts of right center in Shotz stadium.
“Those would both probably have been out of the park in a lot of other places,” said broadcaster Carlos Garcia, “but in this cavern of a place, it’s hard to get them out of here.”
Chenoweth, who has good legs for a first baseman, was seen to be laughing after the second one. “I wasn’t sure I was going to make it there,” he said. “That’s a long sprint. I was dialing up for a portable oxygen breather.”
The Nine won the game 9-2, with Chenoweth going 4-4 with a walk and three RBI.
His 6 career triples place him 79 behind teammate Dong-po Thum.
