Front Office Announces Celebration
September 22, 2043: Yellow Springs – With the season winding to an end and the team holding onto an insurmountable lead, the YS9 front office has announced that the club will be presenting the 2043 Heartland Division Champion banner to fans in attendance on Thursday, September 23.
GM Ron Collins made the announcement earlier today at the club’s weekly fan outreach symposium, held this year at Sam’s Sub and Hoagie Shop. “We understand, like all Nine fans understand, that winning the Heartland Division is the highest honor a team can achieve in a season, so these are always big deals to us.”
That arch-rival Loserville will be in town to start a three-game series had no bearing on the timing of the event, Collins said. The banner has apparently already arrived, and includes a spiffy yellow flair.
Others say that Collins’s line isn’t full held inside the organization. The club faces Chicago tonight, but rumors suggest that the team’s front office didn’t feel the need have the ceremony yet. “Sure, Chicago’s got all that porcine excretion in its favor, but they’ve only been wallowing in it since Vitale took over. Loserville has been toxic for a lot longer than that,” an insider said. “If you can only rub one team’s nose into the pennant, Loserville is the obvious choice.”
Regardless, fans will enjoy the unveiling of the banner prior to the first pitch Thursday night. We at 9-News, however, had the opportunity to get a quick peek at the banner, hence in the light of a free press, present it here.
