Nine Stay Profitable
November 11, 2042: Yellow Springs – The YS9 annual report was released yesterday, showing that the team remains profitable to the tune of roughly $18M on a revenue stream of $153.4M. The result helped turn the tide of a 2041 that say the club lose $12.6M. The team’s Hall of Fame owner, Bo Jordan, used $6M of the proceeds to pay down debt incurred over the year, which left him a $12M check to pocket or blow or do whatever it is owners do with that kind of spending change.
“Investors are greedy,” Jordan said with a smile when asked his plans.
Slush Fund Rumored
While it’s likely that the team’s conglomerate leadership, of which Jordan controls, is seeing a true windfall, conspiracy theorists in the ring just outside the club continue to insist that Jordan is taking a big slice of that pie to fund covert operations of a nature that are … well … covert.
“We know it all started with the pig shit fiasco,” one fan said. “Bo Jordan is not the kind of guy who would take that sitting down. You know he’s got something up his sleeve.”
Uncertain Future
The report contained information that suggests Jordan has slashed the club’s budget going forward, from the $152M range it sat at this year down to $142M. This ominous step was supported by whispers that the owner noted only $141M of the club’s revenue came as a result of normal operations, and that $11.8M came as a result of the playoffs. Some are saying that, with the team playing in the always dangerous Heartland division, Jordan is hedging his bet.
“If they don’t go to the playoffs again, with all those contracts coming to arbitration, next year could be a disaster.”
