RF Out With Fractured Foot
League Office Petitioned

“We don’t like it one bit,” said manager Bill Inkster after the game, noting that eight YS9 batters have been hit so far, including leadoff man Dong-po Thum an astounding five times. He went on to ponder the idea that other teams know they can’t win on the field, so maybe they are just taking guys out one at a time. “I don’t really know,” he grumbled, “but we’re just getting killed out there. The league has to do something about it.”
INKSTER TAKES HEAT
Broadcaster Casts Doubts
One suggests Inkster may be casting shade in the league’s direction because fans were upset at the whole series of events leading up to and following the injury. It was the bottom of the third inning, and Abdeljilill Sediki had homered to tie the game. Then Luis Pena walked in front of Thum, whereupon the manager ordered a sacrifice bunt.
While on a hot mike, YS9 broadcaster Melissa Lester was caught saying how she really felt: “You’re telling me you’ve got the best hitter in the league at the plate with no one out, and you’re going to freakin sacrifice bunt? That’s just the dumbest thing since … since the pig shit thing.” Call-in shows and social media blew up, essentially creating a massive wave of support for Lester.
When Delgado plunked Mendoza, Inkster then proceeded to pinch-run with stone-footed Mark Haynes—a guy who DH’s because, let’s face it, his footwork at second base is like Lurch in a blender.
Seriously, Bill? Seriously?
Then, literally a minute later, after Lucas McNeill fans and Javier Rodriguez grounds out, you replace Haynes with outfielder Grant Lee—who can actually both run and play the field in Mendoza’s place. Seriously? Inkster sacrificed his best hitter, then burned a solid bat for no reason.
“It’s almost like he’s trying to lose,” Lester said.
Inkster had no comment on Lester’s insinuations, and finally shut the interview down after reporters kept pressing.
“I’ve got a root canal to get to,” he said as he left. “Thank, God.”
