McKinney Called Up
IL Stint Fosters Tirade
It probably doesn’t hurt that the club carried veteran hitter Andy McKinley down in the minors, or that while Foster is, admittedly, tearing up BBA pitching (4 doubles, 3 homers, 8 RBI, .387/.424/.871), McKinley is sitting at .350/.481/.500 with a homer in Indianapolis.
“It’s April,” manager Bill Inkster said. “We’re going to keep our guys healthy, and there’s no reason to push it with Rex when we’ve got a guy who once won the Gillstrom down in AAA. I’m happy he’s upset about it though, because that shows you what kind of competitor he is. We need Rex Foster at 100%. That’s the message to our guys right now. If you’re on the 40-man, you need to be ready to play.”
Foster, an aggressive New Yorker, later apologized to the rest of his teammates, saying that he’s going to be in the dugout cheering them on. He’s expected to be ready to play in a week’s time when Nashville comes into town.
