Bartolo! Bartolo! Bartolo! To Release in March
While several teammates spent the winter vacationing and reconnecting with family, three pitchers inside the YS9 organization got together to make beautiful music. It all started in Gainesville when pitching prospects Bartolo Bermudez and Bartolo Gomez found themselves on the same winter league roster.
“We hit it off right away,” said Gomez. “And when I heard him singing in the locker room, I knew we had something we could do.”
By that he meant to matchup with the third Bartolo, in this case Bartolo Olvera, another pitching prospect that Gomez had played with in Santa Clara last year. “So I called Bo, and he came down to Florida to record in the afternoon before the games. It also helped that he could work out.” [note: in this case, “Bo” is Olvera’s group nickname, along with “BB” (Bermudez) and “The BeeGees” (Gomez).
The tunes were smooth enough that the three decided to release a compilation, titled Bartolo! Bartolo! Bartolo! and includes the single “Three Strikes And You’re All Out of Love.” They’ve also taken to playing bars and clubs along the Florida coastline under the name "The Three Bartolos," and have managed to create a bit of a following.
The group doesn’t know if it will make more music or not, but they all say they had a good time, and might consider the idea of doing an off-season record every year.
