First Rounder Cherishes Education
When the Yellow Springs Nine called Jerry Boroque to let him know they were preparing to make him their selection in the first round of the 2040 amateur draft, his mother said they’d have to blow him away with an offer in order to get her son to sign a professional baseball contract. Apparently, she wasn’t kidding.
Word today comes that the right hander, who posted a 2-3 record along with a 4.62 ERA with John Deere high school, turned down $6M in Yellow Springs money in order to enroll in college.
“Sounds to me like he made the right choice,” said Hitter’s Almanac baseball beat reporter Gayle Combs. “It’s clear he needs more education.”
Certain others suggested Finance as a potential major for the kid, saying, "At least that way he'll eventually understand the actual time value of money he's left on the table."
