9-News: 39.001 – BNN Lists ROY #14

Post by RonCo » Sat Jun 08, 2019 10:05 am

If you want to understand exactly how high-powered the BNN Baseball Consortium thinks the YS9 farm system is, look no further than the fact that Jose Machado, the team’s freshly minted Gillstrom Rookie of the Year, sits down the list at #14.

That’s not a typo.

Machado drilled 36 homers last season with the patent club, but was still unable to stir the scout’s hearts. “All of them were hit with hurricane gale winds behind him,” said one anonymous scout. “And he’s go a freckle under his left eye that’s going to hurt his merchandising value.

Certainly we see some nice names ahead of Machado. Thum, Chenoweth, Pineda, Ramirez. You can see why some ranking services love the system (though at some point you have to wonder when the pundits are going to drop Juan Lopez (a 23 year-old semi-bust currently #8, but has never hit anything). And there are guys like Luis Colon in there, who is a fair major leaguer, but who most assuredly did not contribute at Machadoian numbers.

One might be tempted to question certain skills of the projection system, but we here at 9-News would rather take this publication for the intellgent folks they are, and say: 14th? Holy cows but the Nine are going to be good soon.
### In potentially related news, members of the BBN Baseball Consortium have reported receiving deliveries of pastries from Sinclair’s Éclairs. “I didn’t order these,” said Cal Davies.

The delivery woman winked, and moved right along,

Yet another problem with the BNN prospect lists. Machado isn't a prospect anymore, why is he on there?

Dunno. Probably because of his age. But, yeah, he should be considered a big league player now...not a prospect.
