9-News: 37.071 – Camacho Dealt To Huntsville

Post by RonCo » Mon Feb 04, 2019 1:31 pm

Carlos Camacho’s long national nightmare is over. Today the YS9 front office released a notice saying the versatile infielder/outfielder was traded to the Phantoms for journeyman minor leaguer Mike Franklin and every ounce of sanity left in the clubhouse. Technically, Franklin has been playing in AA Beloit for the Huntsville squad, but will report to Indianapolis.

“We wish Carlos nothing but the best as he recovers in Huntsville,” the statement said.

The deal comes a day after Camacho publicly attacked the YS9 front office, including making aggressive comments toward GM Ron Collins.

“This was a pure baseball move,” Collins said when asked for comment. “Carlos camo to our organization and played as well as he could, but now we have Pat Allen coming off the disabled list, and knowing Carlos was disinterested in staying with us, we felt it best to use his roster slot for someone who will be here next year.” Thus sounds nice, but the fact is that several members of the front office are suggesting this will be an addition by subtraction, and that the startlingly outstanding, feel-good play of Anibal Moran made it preferable to make the move sooner than later.

“No one expects Moran to play like this forever, but he’s a breath of fresh air in a year that’s grown stale,” said commentator Frankie Franklin. “It’s good to see the team clear their slate for him.”
