9-News: 36.109 – Nine Declines Crow’s Option

Post by RonCo » Mon Nov 19, 2018 3:24 pm

The wandering tale of Tully Crow (2 - 0, 2.13 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 32 K)’s career took another turn today when the Yellow Springs Nine announced they would not be exercising their option on the oft-injured lefty.

Crow, 36, was signed to a limited “prove it” contract a season ago, and appeared to recover quite quickly before being pactivated in the middle of this season. He was a true feel-good story, posting a solid ERA from the Nine’s bullpen and even giving the club a valuable spot start.

His arm, however, appears to be made of Silly Putty and super glue. It gave way late in th season, this time a rotato cuff that will put him on the shelf into next season.

“We thank Tully got a great effort,” said GM Ron Collins. “We loved having him in the organization, and think he’ll make a fantastic coach someday. But we know he wants to continue his career, and we wanted to let him have that opportunity now rather than impede that.”
