April 10, 2025:
A strange opening week saw the Yellow Springs Nine manage only 4 wins in 9 games, yet that was good enough for the team to put a stranglehold on second place in the Johnson League Mid-Western division, 2.5 games back of Huntsville, and a half-game up on Omaha. A with most things about this team, the process was strange, consisting of a 2/1 positive split against the Brooklyn Robins (including a thrilling 2-1 bottom of the ninth victory via Luis Baca’s ringing double off closer Skip Glendenning), followed by face-planting themselves, losing 2 of 3 to Vancouver and another 2 of three at Louisville.
Second baseman Bryan Vogel clubbed 5 homers in the span of these nine games, including his career 300th. Luis Baca and Carlos Medina[/urel] hit two apiece. clubbed opponents for a .469 AVG and an 1.171 OPS. Hermenegildo Padez won both games he started.
Fans are admittedly a bit despondent, having expected a bit more. 43 runs for and 39 runs against suggest that the fans aren’t too far off kilter in their desires—but, of course, these kinds of number are deceiving.
Regardless, all true fans are encouraged to go grab images of the current standings, because any day you see your club's name above the Barnstormers must be a good day indeed.

It apparently didn't help that some idiot forgot to set the starting rotation slot to 5-man after Spring Training.

Could be worse, you could have done what I did and left all my starters on 50 pitch counts, leading to a 2-8 start.

Remember that time (not you, obviously, Ron) I forgot to reset my pitching rotation and I lost the Landis? 0 sympathy.
