The Yellow Springs Nine agreed to terms today on what will potentially be a three season deal to keep 37-year-old right-handed reliever António "Flying Frenchy" Rodríguez with the club.

Rodríguez, originally from Wayne New Jersey, threw 63 innings with the club last season and registered a 3.39 ERA. He signed a one-season deal for $2M that carries a pair of options on it, the first being a team option. "We think António has a lot left in the tank," said Pitching Coach Celes Palacios. "He can still throw hard, and the last time he walked a guy I think Obama was still in office. Definitely happy to have him back." There is also a suggestion that Palacios and Rodríguez made up the team's best Bridge combination, so Palacios may have a different set of motivations than some fans might consider prudent.

Rodríguez was a fairly dependable part of the team's bullpen, which was (in turn) a fairly bright spot for the team last season, registerig 6th in the JL. "The biggest issue with the pen was that we had to us it so damned often," Vincente Francis, the bartender down at Smokey's said when he heard about the deal. "Hopefully his arm hasn't fallen off."

"I htink this is going to be a good team," Rodríguez said. "I'm getting too old to play games that don't matter."
