Going into this first BBA draft, GM Brandon Tucker wanted to come out of the first five picks with at least ONE decent pitching prospect.

"He in fact did not come out of the first five picks with any pitchers at all. I'd like to tell you he fought the good fight and prevailed, but BBA drafts are no fairy tale"

Round 1 Pick 20: Jerry Johnson is a switch hitting left fielder who can provide above average defense and solid power once he matures. He has a solid work ethic and a slew of High School accomplishments such as a playoff MVP, best fielder award, and an All-Star selection. He has solid bumps but he's 17. He will most likely plummet to 40 OVR and leave us wishing we rolled him over.

Round 1 Pick 32: Jorge Nieves another switch hitter, Nieves has good contact and power potential, as well as Leadership capabilities. His defense is lacking, but there is hope for a Dev Lab miracle in the future. At 18, he is the oldest player drafted by Mexico City in this draft.

Round 2 Pick 20: Jabber Bhatti We felt that we got decent draft value getting Bhatti where we did. He has good power potential and above average outfield range. Another Dev Lab candidate for defensive improvement, Bhatti could fill in at CF as a backup if needed.

Round 3 Pick 20: Dwaine Joysey is an average third baseman prospect who has a chance to hit for decent power. He has a good arm but will have to work hard to continue to develop into an everyday player.

Round 4 Pick 20: Ricardo Hassett was drafted strictly for defensive depth and with his 7/5/8/5 defense ratings, he will be a below average defensive backup at best.

*Special mention*

Round 5 Pick 20: Neil Corbishley was the first pitcher taken by the Aztecs. He is a 5/5/6 pitcher with high Intelligence and Adaptability.
He is a three-pitch pitcher with mediocre pitches that we drafted basically due to bumps and a positional need for depth.

2061 Draft Grade:

Corbishley is a solid pitching prospect. I think you’re too negative on him.

It would be nice if he got a little dev help, but yeah, he's interesting.

Okay, I'll bite - what the heck happened with Jerry Johnson?

Agreed. And season seems to bear that out.
