2056.3: Corfield Wins 5th Nebraska

...and now Corfield.

This is the list. The list of BBA pitchers who have won 5 or more Nebraska awards.

While the results are not official yet, sources within the BBA offices have confirmed that Corfield is comfortably ahead in the voting and should wrap his 5th award when the votes go final.

"Incredible player, great year from Dave," Aztec GM Fred Holmes said, "He works his ass off and it shows. He's always ready when its his turn and he's always ready to deal. Every time he takes the mound for us I'm thankful he was available at 7. Right up there with Enrique from a franchise trajectory altering standpoint."

Corfield was exceptional in 2056, posting an 18-10 record, with a 3.01 ERA and a 3.09 FIP. He pitched 236 innings, striking out 222 vs 58 walks. All of this was good for a 142 ERA+ and a 6.8 WAR, the latter number leading the league by a full win and the second best of his career. Interestingly enough, his 10 losses are the second highest number of his career and only the second time he's had double digits in the L column.

Corfield's assumed 2056 Nebraska trophy will be joining his awards from 2055, 2052, 2050, and 2047. His 5 Nebraskas make up 63% of the franchise's 8 total wins.

For his career, Corfield owns a 170-80 record to go with a 3.32 career ERA and a 1.15 career FIP. His career WAR currently sits at 63.9. He already owns Aztec franchise records for wins and strikeouts, and will likely take over the franchise lead in most categories before the last two years on his current contract expire.

Pretty interesting to think that he and Wullenweber are both on 5 and are in the same generation of players.
