2049.1: Two Sims Left...

Post by Rubaboo » Thu Feb 03, 2022 10:35 am

Current Position: 84-67, Wild Card #3
Lay of the Land: 1.5 Games back of Atlantic City for WC #2, 1.5 Games ahead of WC #4 New Orleans, 2.5 Games ahead of Rockville, the current first team out.
Current Playoff Odds (According to Stats+): 81.9%
Last Sim Results: 2-3
9/17 - L 15-5 @ El Paso
9/18 - L 11-8 @ El Paso
9/19 - W 4-3 @ Las Vegas
9/20 - L 9-8 @ Las Vegas
9/21 - W 5-2 @ Las Vegas

GM Commentary:
Losing 2 at El Paso hurts. There are no guaranteed wins in the BBA but we were really hoping to take those two from the Chilis before going into a tough series in Vegas. Taking 2 from them stops the bleeding but we need to be able to grab wins against teams outside the current playoff picture when they're there to be taken.

Upcoming Schedule (Season head to head):
9/22 - @ Las Vegas (6-7)
9/23-9/26 - vs Calgary (5-5)
9/27-9/29 - vs Boise (8-2)

GM Commentary:
We start the sim with our last road game of the season and our last game against a team currently in the playoff picture by finishing up the series in Vegas. Then, we fly home and welcome in the Pioneers for a big series. Calgary is 2 games back of the last wildcard position and would love nothing more, I'm sure, than to orchestrate a sweep and essentially swap places with us. After a 4 game set with Calgary, we play 4 games against Boise in 3 days as there is currently a double header on the schedule for the 27th. We need a good sim here to try to lock in our position. A win against Vegas and at least a split with Calgary would give us at least a .500 record against every team in our division not named El Paso, which would be cool.

Confidence Rating:
I'm gonna give us a 6.5. We've cooled quite substantially from the torrid pace we posted in July and August. We currently control our own destiny and all but one of the rest of our games are at home but I'll admit I don't have a great feeling about this sim. Calgary is going to be hugely motivated and Boise will relish an opportunity to play spoiler. This sim should provide alot of clarity. Here's hoping I can be more worried about getting the rotation set for the postseason next sim than I am about making it in...

Ha, thanks. Hopefully we can have a strong next sim and clinch so I can get stuff lined up without having to worry about it.
