2047.1: Sim 1 Review

Post by Rubaboo » Mon May 31, 2021 10:27 pm

Sim 1 Results:

April 1: @ San Antonio - W, 4-3
April 2: @ San Antonio - L, 6-2
April 4: @ Montreal - L, 3-1
April 5: @ Montreal - L, 6-5
April 6: @ Montreal - W, 9-1

2-3 Overall record for Sim 1. It would have been nice to win a few more here but one can only expect so much when putting a cobbled together lineup out there featuring Aranda at short and Martinez at 2B. I'm comfortable that things will get better as we proceed.

Batter of the Sim:
C Felipe Delgado
3 G, 6 PA, 4 H, 2 HR, 4 RBI.
Didn't get a ton of opportunity but holy balls did he make the most of it. A .667 average and a 2.333 OPS. Sawyer Silk, here we come! In all seriousness, dude had 13 HR in his career before this sim. No idea where this came from but keep it up. Please?

SP of the Sim:
LHP Jeff Weber
1 GS, 6.1 IP, 0 R, 3H, 7K, 2 BB.
The Animal indeed. Weber was pretty darn good during his time in the bigs last season, perhaps creating higher expectations for him going forward? A 4 or 5 who will hopefully be an important cog this season. I'm rooting for him.

RP of the Sim:
Uhh... 4 guys gave up no runs in 2ish or less innings. That's neat I guess... Hmm... Rodriguez walked a guy in his only inning, so I guess he's out. No walks for the other three... Yi struck out 1 in two innings, Lynch struck out 2 in 1.1, so that's better but Sergio Vasquez struck out 4 in 2.1 with no walks so he takes it. That was excruciating...

Blunder of the Sim:
Hey! I remembered to set my rotation back to 5 man after ST this season, awesome! Wait, why do all of my starters have less than 6 IP? Woof, 75 pitch limits. Nice going...

What to watch for in Sim 2:
- Pena and Zalapa are here now. Paradropping a new double play combo a week into the season? Why the hell not? What could possibly go wrong? The fans are fucking pumped. Maybe we'll even win some games...
- Watch for starters to carry more than a ST workload...

Running POTS tally:
BOTS:
Felipe Delgado - 1
SPOTS:
Jeff Weber - 1
RPOTS:
Sergio Vasquez - 1
