2045.2: Aztec All-Star

Post by Rubaboo » Thu Dec 31, 2020 6:56 pm

The halfway point of the BBA season is upon us. The calendar turning from June to July means only one thing in Brewsterland: The All-Star Game. Fans rush league voting sites to push their favorite players onto the FL and JL rosters. GMs carefully watch voting totals, some wringing their hands about bonus checks they'll have to write. Players either enjoy a relaxed exhibition game with a carnival atmosphere or enjoy a few days off to rest, recoup, and prepare for the stretch. It is a time for celebration throughout the league. Mostly. The Aztecs don't have a ton to celebrate about the first half of the year. The team's all-star hopefuls list is woefully short with the pitching staff in tatters and the offense... bad. There is really only one player who has a real shot at making the mid-summer classic as the representative from Mexico City: Manny Collazo.

Collazo has leveled up his game every season he's been in the bigs, and 2045 has been no exception. He's slashing .320/.395/.614 for the moribund Aztecs, even in a lineup where he has very little protection or support.

"Manny has been great, rock solid." said Aztec general manager Fred Holmes. "We've been pretty poor overall this year but I shudder to think about where we would be without Manny. He's been a solid young hitter and you can see him evolving year by year, month by month. He's a great student of the game and absolutely deserves every accolade."

The voters would appear to agree. Currently, Collazo is leading JL 3B by a hefty margin in voting and will quite likely be the Aztecs' sole representative at the game this season.

Collazo's 2045 stat line:
.320/.395/.614, 30 2B, 1 3B, 19 HR, 42 RBI, 162 OPS+, 3.0 WAR
