Omaha, NE -- Omaha Barnstormers is desperate for a starting catcher after losing Pedro Cruz and Ale'aaka Avatar to free agency. Today, Barnstormers made a move and acquired Tadeo Merido and Keith Barbosa from Greenville Moonshiners for outfielder Neville Byas.

"It wasn't an easy decision for us. We had a plan for Neville Byas, but that plan does not include trading him. This is a business after all, and we need to fill some holes in our lineup to compete next season." GM Imasa said to press today.

Barnstormers also signed veteran third baseman Jake Mills. Mills, decided to test the free agency after declining the initial offer from Omaha.

"There was a misunderstanding in the beginning, but we figured it out." Jake Mills said to press.

Barnstormers also acquired RP Adrian Alvarez and RP Ariel Klock from free agency.

Adrian Alvarez played in AA Chula Vista with an 3.77 ERA, and with 1.50 WHIP.

Ariel Klock played in AA Rancho Cordova with an 3.78 ERA and with 1.27 WHIP.

Also acquired from free agency, catcher Hashuro Dakiki who played last year in Madison with .231 AVG, .273 OBP, and .320 SLG.

Merido should supply some offense from behind the dish.

"Ball o' Fat" supplies some solid defense in reserve.

Dakiki also seems to alternate good and bad years at the plate, this should be a good one.

I wish I could have held onto Dakiki. He refused to discuss extension with us since he never played behind Reyes. He could have been in the running for a starting spot this season.

For some reason, he's very effective as a backup. At least in Spring Training. I love my backstops this season.
