2032.6: Pablo adds to legend with renaissance season

.325/.395/.517, 25 HR, 91 RBI in 161 games played. Impressive numbers for anyone. Especially impressive when you put those on the back of a player's card after the number 35 in the age column. This is the season that Omaha's undisputed leader, Juan Pablo put together at an age when many players are deciding where to have retirement parties.

Pablo set career highs in On Base (.395), Slugging % (.517), and walks (71); tied a career high with 25 homers, and was only 3 points off of his career high for batting average. In a season where he turned 35.

He laughs off rumors of a fountain of youth when asked, "Nah, nothing like that. I just have a set routine I go through during the season. Same diet, same workouts, same game day schedule, things like that. I've found it's alot easier for me as the season drags on when I don't stray from my routine."

"You should see him, man. The guy shows up to the park at the same time every gameday, he takes the same number of swings in BP, sits in the same spot on the bench, chews the same gum. I wouldn't be surprised if he measures his piss out to make sure that's all the same," says longtime teammate Valentin Colon, "In all seriousness though, the guy is just insane to watch. He plays like a guy 15 years younger and it's because he knows what to do. When we have new guys come into camp I always tell them to watch him and do what he does. That's how you become a great player."

Great player indeed. Pablo's consistent excellence has him creeping up the Omaha leaderboards, and after his 198 hits in 2032 he's only 19 hits behind Omaha great Kenji Masaki for the franchise lead, a number he should have no trouble reaching early in the 2033 season. Also potentially within his reach are the Omaha career records for WAR, games played, at bats, and total bases. He's not worried about the records though.

"Records and all that are fine and good, but I want my legacy when I leave this club to be about more than the numbers. It's about the impact you make on the guys that are around you every day and the community that you live in. That's what's important, not stats and figures."

Everyone in Barnstormer-land hopes that he'll have several more years to cement that legacy.
