Aztecs open the season at home vs Boise


Mexico City a blown save away from the sweep


Game 1: Boise @ Mexico City
  • Manny Ortega picks up the win after 3 innings of two-hit ball
  • Key moment: Aztecs CF - Albert Childress hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the 8th to put Mexico City ahead 7-6
  • Noteworthy: Aztecs RF - Júlio Pérez went 3-for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI which earned the Mexico City newcomer with Player of the Game honors

Final: Mexico City 7 - Boise 6





Game 2: Boise @ Mexico City
  • Jonathan Sobers pitches six strong innings, gets 1st win as starter and wins Player of the Game: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 K
  • Tim Gingras pitched 3 innings of no-hit ball to pick-up the save
  • Key moment: Aztec newcomer Randy Wright hit a 2-run home run off of Spuds starter Dan Boman, putting the Aztecs up 2-1. Wright finished 2-for5 with a home run, double, and 3 RBI.

Final: Mexico City 7 - Boise 1





Game 3: Boise @ Mexico City
  • Steve Truss solid for Boise: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 6 K
  • Tim Stops gets the stop and the save for Boise
  • Key moment: Boise 1B William Coleman smacked a 2-run-homer in the top of the 7th inning. It was his only hit of the day but a clutch one giving Boise a 4-3 lead
  • Noteworthy: Aztec reliever Dennis Harrel blew a save opportunity and was awarded with the loss.

Final: Mexico City 4 - Boise 5

It would be awesome to see Corfield get to 300 wins but he might fall short. Still a future HOFer in my book.

33 wins away, he’s not going to make it. He is lumping hard too. Really hope he retires after this season so he can join my coaching staff and free up a starting rotation slot for Blackshear.
