...It's a MAJOR AWARD! (Or at least he was)...
Carlos Cruz is no longer listed as “Normal.” No, no. According to the baseball gods and the fine folks at OOTP HQ, his injury designation is now officially…
Fragile.
Not “fragile.”... but say it with me FragilÉ.
You know — like the Christmas Story leg lamp. The one the dad proudly declares is “Italian” and absolutely not about to shatter if you breathe near it.
Which brings me to my next point…
A Message to the OOTP DevelopersFirst of all — I love you.
Second of all — who hurt you?
Because somehow, every time Carlos Cruz strings together two healthy innings, the game engine starts rubbing its hands together like, “Ah yes… let us change the label.”
Normal → Fragile
Just like that.
I half-expect the next update to list him as:
- “Do Not Touch”
- “Decorative Only”
- “Handle With Care”
Rehab Assignment, Or: How Does This Sound Familiar? Now here’s the part where Ol' Gertie starts pacing.
Cruz has had two outings in AAA. And wouldn’t you know it — he’s been… good.
10.1 IP
9 H
2 R (2 ER)
3 BB
9 K
112 PITCHES
Tell me if this sounds familiar:
He looks fine.
The results are solid.
The arm hasn’t fallen off yet.
And yet — fragilÉ.
Also, explain this to me like I’m the one writing the game code:
What kind of “rehab assignment” involves throwing 70+ pitches in an outing?
That’s not rehab.
That’s a trust fall exercise with your UCL.
I don’t need him throwing triple digits in April in AAA. I need him existing. Upright. Breathing. Preferably without medical staff sprinting toward him with clipboards.
Closing ThoughtsLook, I want Carlos Cruz to succeed. I really do. But if his official status is now “Fragile,” I’m putting a sticker on his locker, bubble-wrapping his shoulder, and forbidding him from carrying groceries.
This organization has Wolves to feed, and I refuse to lose another starter because someone confused “rehab” with “stress test.”
Turn the leg lamp off, boys.
Gertie’s watching.
