Delivered from the front office with coffee in hand and dreams of extra-base hits
"Wolves fans — I have an announcement that’s got me feeling all sorts of warm and fuzzy, like the time I accidentally left the hot dog roller on overnight.
As soon as the offseason begins, we will officially be welcoming Manobu Shimizu back into the Wolves organization — this time, not as the smooth-swinging right fielder we watched for two decades, but as our newest hitting coach in the minor league system!
That’s right — #23 is coming home again, only now he’ll be carrying a clipboard instead of a bat (though let’s be honest, I bet he could still lace a liner into the gap if we needed it).
And what’s even more heartwarming? He’ll be joining his longtime teammate and dear friend, Yorikane Miyamoto, who’s already been doing incredible work on the player development side. These two know each other like peanut butter knows jelly — and I can’t wait to see what they cook up together for the next generation of Wolves talent.
We’re building a culture — one that honors our past while shaping our future — and bringing these two legends back into the fold is a big part of that. I want our young players to learn what it means to be Wolves. And there’s no better teachers than Manobu and Yori.
So raise a glass of orange drink from the vending machine, and get excited. The Wolves family just got a little stronger.
With excitement and some very firm handshakes,
Gertie
