The ladies heard someone in Nashville was looking for some beach pics...
The flight was filled with nostalgic chatter and laughter as the ladies reminisced about their adventures. “Can you believe this is our last stop?” Gertie said, her voice tinged with sadness.
“I know, it feels like just yesterday we started this journey,” replied Mary.
Upon landing, the ladies were greeted by the warm tropical air and the sound of waves crashing on the shore. As they disembarked, Gertie couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness mixed with excitement. They had made it to their final destination: Forever Field, home of the Bikini Krill.
Meeting GM Ron Collins was a highlight for the ladies. Known for his time with the Yellow Springs Nine, Collins had consistently led his team to the playoffs back when he was in the Heartland. "You've always been such a formidable GM," Gertie said, shaking his hand. "Winning in the Heartland is no small feat. Everyone knows it’s the best division in the Brewster."
Collins smiled humbly. "Thank you, ladies. It's been quite a journey for me too, moving from the Heartland to Bikini. But it’s been a rewarding experience."
The girls chatted animatedly with Collins about his transition and the challenges he faced. They were impressed by his resilience and adaptability. It wasn’t long before Betty brought up something she had been eagerly waiting to share.
“Mr. Collins,” she began, “I’ve been working on a book, and I’d love to get your thoughts on it.”
Collins’ eyes lit up with interest. “I’d love to hear about it.”
Betty pulled out her manuscript titled *When Circuits Collide: A Star-Crossed Saga*. She handed it to Collins and explained, “It’s a story about X-7 and Anya, two advanced robots on opposing sides of a space war. Despite their programming and duties, they find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other. It’s a tale of love, duty, and the choices they must make amidst an intergalactic conflict.”
Collins flipped through the pages, intrigued. “This sounds fascinating, Betty. A thrilling saga set against the backdrop of an epic space war. I think you’ve got a real hit on your hands.”
Betty beamed with pride. “Thank you! That means a lot coming from you.”

GM Collins had some of his team whip up a cover for "When Circuits Collide..."
As the game concluded, the ladies reflected on their incredible journey. “This has been the adventure of a lifetime,” said Beth. “From the bustling cities to the serene beaches, we’ve seen it all.”
“And met some amazing people along the way,” added Gertie.
Their final night was spent enjoying the local sights and sounds. They explored the beautiful beaches of Bikini Atoll, indulged in delicious seafood, and even tried their hands at some local crafts. The highlight of the evening was a surprise dinner organized by Collins at a beachfront restaurant. He had gone all out, ensuring the ladies had an unforgettable experience.
“Thank you for making our final stop so special,” Mary said to Collins as they enjoyed the feast. “This trip has been everything we dreamed of and more.”
Collins raised his glass in a toast. “To Gertie’s Girls, for showing us all what true passion for baseball looks like. You ladies are an inspiration.”
As the night drew to a close, the ladies knew that while their journey was ending, the memories they had made would last a lifetime. They boarded the plane back home with hearts full of gratitude and minds buzzing with stories to tell.
Their season-long adventure might be over, but Gertie’s Girls had proven that age is no barrier to living life to the fullest. And as they flew into the night sky, they knew that their love for baseball and each other would keep their spirits young forever.
