MADISON, WI - In a stunning twist of logic and foresight, the Madison Wolves have wrapped up the Brewster preseason with the second-best record (18-12). Yet, in a stroke of pure genius, an anonymous preseason prediction calculator (likely run by a hamster on a wheel) has declared the Wolves destined to finish next to last. Truly, the epitome of predictive prowess!

General Manager Mike Simon, seemingly dumbfounded by this revelation, had a hearty laugh. "Well, I guess 18 wins mean nothing in the grand scheme of the hamster wheel predictions. Maybe we should have aimed for 20?" he chuckled.

Our star players were equally amused. Rafael Pérez, center fielder extraordinaire, commented, "I guess all those home runs and diving catches were for show. Time to lower our expectations!"

Marshall Roy, our right fielder, quipped, "Next to last, huh? Guess we’ll just have to make the playoffs to spite the calculator."

Not to be outdone, catcher Ziad Abdul-Samad added, "Do we get a trophy for best sarcastic predictions? I feel like we deserve one."

Dave McClain, our powerhouse third baseman, said, "It’s comforting to know that my off-season training was clearly wasted. Maybe I should take up knitting instead."

Starting pitcher Josh Clark remarked, "I might as well throw underhand next season. No sense in wasting those fastballs."

So, dear fans, while the Wolves gear up to defy the odds, remember those who predict can't always predict right. Let’s enjoy the season, one sarcastic victory at a time!
