Madison, WI - The Madison Wolves are excited to announce the selection of college 3B Dave McClain in the 2054 Brewster Baseball amateur draft. McClain, who played college ball at AmGen, was selected to the 2054 college baseball all-star game and has posted impressive career statistics during his time at AmGen.

"Dave is an exceptional player and we are thrilled to have him join the Madison Wolves," said Simon, the GM of the Wolves. "He brings a great deal of talent and skill to our team and we are confident that he will make an immediate impact."

On a scale of 1-10, McClain rates highly in several important areas, including an impressive arm rating of 11. He also has a strong range, with a rating of 7, and a solid error rating of 5. While his double play rating of 3 is somewhat lower, he has shown tremendous growth and potential during his college career.

In addition to his impressive defensive skills, McClain is also a talented hitter. He has posted a career batting average of .304, with a slugging percentage of .465 and an OPS of .863. McClain has also demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure, with solid postseason batting statistics that include a .290 batting average and a .516 slugging percentage.

McClain's career fielding statistics are also impressive, with a fielding percentage of .945 and a range factor of 2.32. He has been a solid contributor at third base throughout his college career and is expected to continue that success at the professional level.

"We are excited to see what Dave will bring to our team and are confident that he will help us achieve our goals," said Simon. "We look forward to seeing him in action and are thrilled to have him as part of the Madison Wolves family."

He should be a solid hitter and on-base pest. If I felt he could have played 2B, with his lack of power for a corner position (I know, tired bias), I would have grabbed him. I'll probably regret not getting past my seeing him as "only" a high OBP 3B.

Same Jim. He was definitely one of my final 5 for my pick but just couldn't pull the trigger.

I had this mindset too. Was also one of my final five or so.
