John Maggard is a highly regarded prospect who has the potential to make an impact at the next level. Standing at 6'2" with a lean but athletic frame, he has the size and quickness to excel at both the shortstop and outfield positions. A native of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Maggard played college baseball at Jakarta Victory and was selected by the Madison Wolves in the first round as the 19th overall pick.

At the plate, Maggard is a skilled hitter with a quick bat and good gap power. He is able to drive the ball to all parts of the field and has a good understanding of the strike zone. In his junior year at Jakarta Victory, he batted .342 with 10 home runs and 45 RBIs, while also stealing 20 bases. These stats show that he has the ability to hit for average and power, while also being a threat on the base paths.

On a scale from 1-10, Maggard's batting ratings are as follows:
  • Batting: 6
  • Contact: 8
  • Gap: 4
  • Power: 4
  • Eye: 4
  • K's: 8
These ratings suggest that Maggard is a solid hitter with a quick bat and good gap power. He has the ability to hit for average and drive the ball to the gaps, but may struggle with power and has a tendency to strike out. His ratings against right-handed and left-handed pitchers are consistent, indicating that he is able to make solid contact against pitchers from both sides of the plate.

Defensively, Maggard's ratings are as follows:
  • Fielding (IF): 9
  • Fielding (OF): 2
  • Range: 9
  • Error: 9
  • Arm: 8
  • Turn DP: 9

These ratings show that Maggard is a strong and reliable shortstop with excellent range and few errors. In the outfield, he may struggle a bit with range, but has a strong arm and is able to make accurate throws. His fielding stats from his college career at Jakarta Victory further demonstrate his defensive prowess. In three seasons, he played in 47 games per season, totaling over 1200 innings at the shortstop position.

His fielding percentage of .969 to 973 is excellent, indicating that he makes few errors in the field. His range factor (RF) of 4.01 to 4.36 suggests that he covers a lot of ground and is able to make a lot of plays. His fielding efficiency (Eff) of 1.011 to 1.078 is also strong, indicating that he is able to turn batted balls into outs at a high rate. His zone rating (ZR) of 2.28 to 3.35 shows that he is able to cover a lot of territory and make plays on balls hit in his zone.

Overall, Maggard is a well-rounded player who can contribute in all aspects of the game. He is a coachable team player who is always looking to improve his game. His combination of hitting ability, speed, and defensive prowess make him a valuable asset for any team at the next level. While he may need to work on his outfield range, his versatility and strong hitting ability make him a valuable addition to the Madison Wolves organization. The Wolves made a smart pick in selecting Maggard in the first round, and he has the potential to be a key contributor for them in the future.
