April 15, 2052 - It happend so quickly, Brian Smith stepped on the mound for the 268th time for the Madison Wolves in the 7th inning vs Sacramento. Things were looking up for the 32yo reliever, he was going into the final year of 3 year 13.9m contract extension he signed with the Wolves in 2049. His family had settled in, his kids were in school, and his wife really felt like Madison was home. Then it happened, the 11year had gotten two outs on 7 pitches in the inning, and just struck out Mike Campbell on 3 pitches. The vet threw pitch number 8 to Aarnoud Budding and felt some sharp pain in this throwing elbow. He took himself out of the game, and the team trainer immediately took an MRI of the arm. Turns out, he had indeed suffered and season, and potentially career ending injury. The team Dr recommended surgery, and Smith followed with great great grandson of Dr. James Andrews, that will would indeed require surgery to remove bone chips elbow. The surgery and rehab puts him out for a minimum of out for 4-5 months. Returning to the league as a 33yo pitcher after suffering a serious elbow injury to your throwing arm, puts in doubt his future career in the Brewster. In a corresponding move the Wolves then release the 32yo Smith from the team, clearing up his remaining 4m in salary, allowing the team to make future moves if needed later in the season. We wish him nothing but the best said GM Simon, he knows this is a business, but his number one priority is recovery and rehab. He's always welcome back (at a cheaper price), said GM Simon.
