There's not much change in the Wolves Opening day from 2050 where they missed the playoffs on the last series of the season again. A team that finished 88-74 last season. "Like I said before, 90 games is what you need to make the playoffs in the Frick, 90 games. We missed that mark by 2 and missed the playoffs. If we hit 90 we'd have been in." GM Simon said. If we take a look at the roster, the team has flipped both catching spots in 2051. Starter and backup spots. Gone are Angelo Deluccio and Mariano Lopez, who have been replaced by top prosect 23yo Bin Wan (who was called up later in the year in 2050), and 28yo Ramiro Castillo. We all know what Bin and provide to this team, and to have a backup in Ramiro is helpful to us. Ramiro has worked with some of the current pitching staff on the ballclub as he's was drafted in 2044 and has worked his way up through the Wolves system the last 7 seasons, so his experience with the current staff will only help Bin.

In the OF the team has signed 30yo free agent CF Jorge Lopez to a 1-year deal. Jorge will help add some versatility (backup at all OF 3 positions) for us, perhaps with a little platoon time at CF with Bursey. Anything to help the teams horrendous ZR of -9.5 in CF last season. If he doesn't produce, GM Simon has no issue optioning either of them down for either AAA CF Manny Pean or AA CF Stanford Sanders a chance. It will be interesting to see how this season goes. Rumor has it GM Simon might have these guys on a short leash.

The team did not resign SP Brian King from last season, who was rumored to have been asking north of 14m a season to re-sign with the club. A HUGE increase from his 4m salary from 2050 for a pitcher north of 31yo. So the team decided to part ways. It seems he signed a 1 year deal with Calgary for ~5m. Something we would have offered if he presented that option to us, said GM Simon. However his agent was stuck with a 6 year deal at ~14m per season. In doing so it opened up a roster spot for the BBAs #7th overall ranked prospect 21yo phenom Buwono Mainaky onto the big league roster. The team still has some cap room left to play with, and GM Simon said they are still always shopping around on how to improve the team with some quality arms.
