Madison, WI -

Its that time of year where the Madison players all tear off sheets of paper and place them into the teams personal Wood Beast, and pull forth this years end awards. Once again nobody died, and here are the results.

2045 Offensive Player of the Year

(Manobu Shimizu)

Its hard to argue with Manobu receiving this award from his teammates. He lead the team in Hits (235), HR (33), RBI (141), IBB (4), AVG (.393), IBP (.468), SLG (.544), ISO (.251), OPS (1.112), OPS+ (182), BABIP (.388), WAR (9.1), and most wings eaten at the team picnic (47). He flirted with .400 all season. He was over it in late September (.408), and needed just 2 hits to reach .400 again in the final game of the year. Alas, he went 0-3, and finished at .393 which was tops in the BBA in 2045.

2045 Pitcher of the Year

(Juan Lopez)

Rule 5 pickup 25yo Juan Lopez lead the team with 20-4 record out of the pen. He held opponents to .242 batting average, striking out 148 and walking 80 in 178.1 innings pitched. He really has come along since we drafted him out of the Louisville organization. "He's a real innings eater (averaging ~148IP) per season for the last 3 seasons" said PC Ricardo Vargas.

2045 Rookie of the Year

(Cesar Pena)

24yo catcher Cesar Pena. Pena was added to the 25 Wolves roster this season as a player who would solely fill in for when the off season free agent acquisition of C Felipe Mercado needed a break. Well we soon realized that Mercado should take a longer break (much longer), barely hitting over .200 by mid-season, the team made the move. Pena took advantage of the opportunities, playing well enough to become the teams starting C by mid-season. He will have to play better in his sophomore season, as the Wolves have a bunch of C prospect climbing the ranks of the minors.
