After 17 seasons, seven teams and more than 1100 games in Brewster Baseball Association, Norwegian born, German native Desiderius Kirshbaum is calling it a career. Kirshbaum, a switch-hitting Left Fielder out of Sjøskolen School, told the Register on Friday that he is retiring. Kirshbaum, 35, said he suffered a shoulder setback a few weeks ago that would have required surgery and rehab. He’s instead opting to retire after a long and successful big-league career that included a resume full of major accomplishments. In a statement released by his agent. "I would have had to get surgery and rehab again so decided it was best." Kirshbaum wrote in a text message to The Register.

Kirshbaum compiled a .305/.346/.426 slash line in 1181 games with the Charm City Jimmies, Phoenix Talons, Louisville Sluggers, Brooklyn Robins, Las Vegas Hustlers and, most recently, the Madison Wolves. He finishes his career with 2 Rookie of the month awards, a 1x All star, a Diamond Glove and a Landis Series ring with Vegas.

Kirshbaum was a star in High School before being selected in the first round of the 2024 draft by the Belfast Northstars, of the now defunct EBA. He then established himself as one of the top prospects in the EBA. In 2026 he became the #2 prospect in the EBA, and won his first professional championship with the Dublin Irish in 2026. In 2028 Kirshbaum made his jump to the BBA in a trade between Charm City and Belfast. Shooting up quickly to the #13 prospect in the BBA in 2029.

He went on to post a .312/.352/.437 slash in parts of five season (2029-2033) with Charm City before being traded to Phoenix early in that season. Kirshbaum spent the next two seasons (2033-2034) between Phoenix and Madison (trade), before finally landing in Louisville (trade) in 2034.

After his first partial season in Louisville, Kirshbaum decided to test free agency and was quickly snapped up by Louisville, scoring a record 5 year 86m contract. In total he played in only 167 games for the Sluggers. In the better part of 4 years in Louisville he averaged ~22 games a season. His highest being 95 in 2035. They mutually decided to part ways after the 2037 season, with a trade to Brooklyn. The Brooklyn relationship did not last long, as he was traded before seasons end to Vancouver. Playing in 48 games and posting a .287/.324/.396 slash line for the Mounties.

After the 2038 season he became a free agent again only able to sign a MiLB deal with the Las Vegas Hustlers. He did hit the only cycle in his career that year against his old team Brooklyn on 7/4/2039. The Hustlers rewarded Kirshbaum with a 1 year 1m BBA contract shortly after. However in their playoff push in 2040, Vegas traded Kirshbaum (along with other players) to Madison (his second stint with the club) for what would be their championship run. Kirshbaum received a ring from the team even though he did not play a single playoff game with them.

Kirshbaum spent the remainder of the 2040 season on the Wolves, and resigned a one year deal after the season. In 2041, the 35 year old Kirshbaum spent most of his time as a part-time player appearing in 42 games, and starting only 20 with the Wolves. Posting a career low .158/.211/.178 slash line.

"Its a young mans game now, and I look forward to this next chapter in my life. I feel truly blessed to have been able to play the game I love for all these year." Kirshbaum said.

Kirschbaum was awesome for Vegas in 2039. He'd probably make a great coach.

No one loves Louisville. Time to create some Bauer/Genius posts since Stu is gone (for now)
