Madison Wolves - John Hale 2019 FL Charles Puckett Award (C)
Madison, WI - In a season of mediocrity, one player stood out and was recognized by his peers within the BBA. The Madion Wolves would like to congratulate Catcher John Hale.
Hale took home his first Puckett award of his career. "It's a special honor to be recognized by the guys you battle against every day. I am very honored to accept this award on behalf of the BBA & the Wolves." Hale said.
Hale ended up with a slash of .249/.306/.530 in 481* AB, 35* HR, 109 wRC+ and a WAR of 2.7*
* = indicates Career high

?? That's weird...Was he on the ballot? He didn't get any votes. He had a 100 games at catcher, so that should have been enough. Wonder what happened.

He was not on the ballot. I'm assuming he didn't get quite enough at bats, but admittedly that's a silly remnant of the old school. You do 4.7 WAR, you should be on the ballot.

Not to rain on Hale's parade too much. He had a fine season.

Hedde Veenman's 2.8 WAR objects as well! haha
Nonetheless, I think the Hale acquisition I made the final season in Madison at least helped as I was trying to piece together some parts for the next GM. I probably lost more trades than I won during my time in Madison, but I think this one worked out.

There wasn’t a whole lot in the cupboards anyway as my record there shows. He made some bold trades that had mixed reviews.CTBrewCrew wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 12:17 amThe previous GM after you but before me, really emptied out the cupboards...7teen wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 12:49 pmHedde Veenman's 2.8 WAR objects as well! haha

Hale was a move I made specifically to try and keep the team solid for the next GM and glad he at least panned out. Also looks like Puente, who was also a part of the deal, might be a contributor as well.
Also nice seeing the guys I drafted our actually planning out too. Madison has some nice looking parts coming up soon.
