In what is becoming a regular occurrence, the most recent GM of the Mumbai Metro Stars of the UMEBA has been plucked up by a BBA squad. This time the lucky candidate is Will Gibson, a former physician turned Brewster GM. Mr. Gibson's story is a bit of unusual one, as he found himself tired of doctoring and decided to pursue his lifelong dream of working in a professional baseball front office. He found an ad online for an opening in the mostly unknown United Middle Eastern Baseball Association, called the phone number, and was told to pack his bags and head to the "Middle East" as soon as possible. In his one season with Mumbai, Gibson led the team to a UMEBA Championship while vastly improving the team's offense during the season.

Now that Gibson is in Madison, he will become the franchise's first new GM in 41 seasons, taking over after the departure of long-time GM Chris Wilson. Some say that it is time for a change, but all agree that Wilson leaves a legacy in Madison that will be hard for Gibson to match, as Wilson won the franchise's only two Landis Cups in 2004 in 2009. Regardless of the shoes that he will have to fill, Gibson will be faced with the tough reality of a team that is not in the best of positions. The Wolves have experimented with an interesting combination of high contact and speed while completely ignoring pitching and defense. It's safe to say that this experiment did not work out the way the Wolves would have liked, with the team finishing with a record of 75-87 in 2039. To make matters worse, the new front office finds itself with two albatross contracts in 1B Jon Mick and RF Steve Dempsey.

When asked about the state of his new team in his introductory press conference, Gibson responded, "The offense is interesting, but I had better pitchers in Mumbai. And these guys can't field a ball to save their lives. I do like that Torres kid though." And so begins the Gibson era in Madison. It will be interesting to see where the team goes from here, both figuratively and literally, as there have been rumblings that Gibson hopes to move the team at some point in the future due to his hatred of cold weather. As far as the actual direction of the team, it will soon be seen if a full-on rebuild is in store or if Gibson decides to build around the solid offensive core of LF Andrew Torres, 2B Mons Raider, 3B Ross Quicker, and RF Manobu Shimizu in hopes of returning to the playoffs in the next season or two.

I was really pulling for Mick and Dempsey to opt-out just so you would have a good clean slate to start with in free agency this off-season.

I wish you the best of luck with Madison. I hope you can fix the mess I left you and will be pulling for you to do so!

As a former Mumbai GM, we expect great things of you in Madison - not to mention an avalanche of TNs.

Good luck and have a blast!

As the only former GM of Mumbai never to have suffered a loss there, I wish you the best of luck with Madison. Have fun.
