That's What Cheesehead: 39.08 - Torres Injury Comes at Bad Time

Is there really a good time for an injury though? But for Andrew Torres, the injury comes at a real bad time. A fractured foot will sideline Torres for 3-4 weeks and could not only derail the Wolves hot play but also derail Torres' push at a Silk Award.

As of June 3, Torres was leading the Frick League in WAR with a 3.1 clip. The high WAR total a factor of the fact that Torres is playing solid defense, leading the FL in batting with a .391 average, and leading the league in RBI with 62 on the season. Yeah, not all of those really factor in together but he's having a good year.

The good start to the season for Torres may be in large part to the fact that manager Millard Davis put Torres in the 3-hole to start the season and he's taken off. The 22 year old Torres has also been given everyday starts this season opposed to just a platoon role against RHP. Not only does Torres lead the league in WAR, AVG, and RBI, but he's also atop the league in OPS and Runs Scored. "I'm having a good season" said Torres following his injury against Long Beach. "It sucks having this sort of set back but hopefully I'll just be out a month or so and be back soon and can pick up with where I left off."

Where Torres left off is some sort of stretch. The player of the month for May had an insane 10-game stretch before the injury. In his last 10 games, Torres had 25 hits. Clearly the spark to the Wolves success, the club won all 10 of those games. He had 16 RBI, scored 15 runs, hit 4 homeruns, and only struck out 4 times during the Wolves 10 game winning streak.

With Torres out, it's likely the club will call up Lance Robinson to play against RHP and use John Dundee to start against LHP.
