That's What Cheesehead: 38.54 - Bopper Kengos Award

Much like the Justin Marco Award in which there was only one true candidate, the Bopper Kengos Award (given to the team's top rookie) only had one possible candidate. The Wolves did have a few guys that are considered rookies but did not play enough to either lose their rookie status or play enough to really be considered for the award.

Therefore, the award goes to the only person it can.

That person, is left handed pitcher Pedro Salduar.

Salduar pitched in 24 games this season with the Wolves, 17 of which were made as a member of the starting rotation. Pedro finished with an overall record of 5-7 and did notch a save out of the bullpen. In 89.2 innings pitched, Salduar posted a 6.32 ERA and a 1.84 WHIP. He struck out 44 while walking 39 en route to a 0.6 overall WAR.

Salduar was acquired by the Wolves in an off-season trade with Huntsville for Felipe Guzman. Guzman remains in the Phantoms minor league system.

Upon hearing he had won an award for his work this season, he was stunned. "Really?" Salduar responded to the media when he heard he had won the team's top rookie award. "Were there no other candidates?" Saludar asked. Upon finding out that he WAS the ONLY candidate, Salduar turned down the award quoting "that's just a participation award."

Salduar remains an option for the Wolves 2039 rotation. He'll be eligible for the Evander Kilkenny Award as well, given to the team's top starting pitcher.

Hell, quicker than that...try arbitration hearings!
