In the Wolves' June 4 game against division rival Twin Cities, Jon Mick made history and etched his name into another record book. In the 2nd inning of that game, Mike hit a 3 run homerun off of Coyle for the River Monsters to hit his 400th career homerun. He'd add number 401 in his next at-bat but the first bomb on the night was the one that got talked about after the game.

"I knew it as soon as I hit it" said Mick after the game of his homerun that landed 421 feet away from home plate in the left field stands. "There are times you just know it's gone and that was one of them. I made solid contact and watch it soar. I'm glad to get this milestone taken care of and can start looking ahead to 500 now."

Mick becomes the 70th player in BBA history to reach the 400 homerun club joining Ed Curry who reached it earlier this season. He's the 3rd player in Madison Wolves history to hit 400 homeruns with the same team joining Charles Puckett and Bopper Kengos in that club. Mick is a distant 3rd behind both of those guys. Puckett hit 689 of his 695 homeruns with the Wolves while Kengos hit all 720 of his BBA Record homeruns with Madison.

"It's an honor to be mentioned with those guys for sure" said Mick. "But damn, it shows how tough it is as well to move up on the leaderboards with this franchise. Only 287 more homeruns to go to catch Crickett."

The fan who caught the homerun ball returned it to Mick after the game. In return, Mick gave the fan a signed bat and jersey. The club also will honor the fan in this week's game against Yellow Springs by letting him throw out the first pitch and take batting practice at Shotz Field before the game.

Part of the fun of taking over Yellow Springs is that it was such a weak organization that much of its all-time franchise lists were within reach of decent players.
