That's What Cheesehead: 38.08 - Adams to Replace Puckett as Bench Coach

It did not take long for the Madison Wolves to move on and replace Charles Puckett as bench coach. As mentioned earlier this off-season, Puckett opted to retire as the Wolves bench coach after just one season citing health concerns and a desire to watch his son play more. Replacing Puckett on the bench for the Wolves will be another familiar face to many who have followed the franchise over the last few decades: Cam Adams.

Adams has been a coach in the Wolves' farm system for the last 5 seasons. The first four of those seasons were spent with the Wolves' Single-A affiliate, the Boulder Crush. In his first year, he led the Crush to a first place finish and a trip to the post-season. Last season, he was promoted up to Triple-A South Bend where he finished with a record over .500 despite seeing a constant rotation of guys between Madison and back to South Bend.

"Adams has a good relationship with a lot of the players on our roster" said Bopper Kengos, Wolves assistant General Manager. "He handled a lot of the roster fluctuation last year about as good as anyone we've seen. And the relationship he built with many of these guys while out in Boulder was huge and we think adding him to our bench will help. You can't replace a leader like Charles. But Cam will do just fine."

Cam Adams the player spent 14 seasons with the Wolves from 2010-2022 and back again in 2024. During that time, he climbed several of the team's all-time leaderboards including ranking 3rd in Games played, 4th in Hits, Doubles, Homeruns, and RBI. He was only recently passed in some of those categories by Jon Mick.

The 51 year old Adams was once the Wolves first overall pick back in the 2005 draft. The former all-star catcher and Wolves hall of fame member will now look to the next phase of his Madison career.
