That's What Cheesehead: 36.48 - Wolves to Induct Martin

When the Wolves take on the Edmonton Jackrabbits this Saturday night, they'll induct yet another player into their Team Hall of Fame and Museum. This year's inductee will mark the 22nd player to be included into the Madison Wolves hall of fame. While most teams only induct their best of the best, the Wolves have had a tradition of inducting a player or team member each and every season after the inaugural five were inducted back in 2014 (yeah, if you're doing the math we missed a couple of even years in there).
This year's inductee will be Mr. Andy Martin. Andy pitched with the Wolves for 12 seasons from 2013 through 2024. During that time he was able to accumulate some decent team stats. While never being a superstar, he was able to do well with the Wolves. Here are some of his high points:
- With 317 career starts, he ranks 2nd all-time in starts in a Madison uniform behind only John Rasmussen.
- His 117 wins are the 5th most in Madison Wolves history.
- His 25.6 WAR is the 9th highest for a pitcher in Wolves history.
- He threw 2,036.0 innings, trailing only Rasmussen and Kilkenny on the Wolves' leaderboard.
- At 1,446 strikeouts, he's 6th all-time on the team in strikeouts.
- He leads the Wolves all-time in losses with 103. He's actually tied with Rasmussen.
Martin would be a member of the 2017, 2020, and 2021 Wolves teams that made it to the post-season. He had 8 seasons in which he won double digit games. In 2017, he won 15 games and on two other occassions recorded 14 victories. His best season was arguably that 2017 post-season team in which he went 15-8 overall with a 3.23 earned run average. His 4.4 WAR that season was his best of any season.
Martin will be honored and inducted prior to the game this Saturday. Fans in attendance will receive a mini-replica of Martin's HOF plaque to be displayed in the team's Museum.
