That's What Cheesehead: 36.42 - Mick Blasts #300 at Home

Post by 7teen » Tue Oct 16, 2018 10:24 am

The individual accomplishments are starting to accumulate for Madison's own Jon Mick (.287/.342/.594, 27 HR, 80 RBI) . Last week, the 8 year veteran who has spent his entire career in a Madison Wolves uniform, hit his 300th homerun in a game at home against San Fernando. The milestone homerun came in the Wolves 5-1 victory over the Bears. Mick talked about the accomplishment this week.

"It's definitely a huge accomplishment" said Mick. "Anytime you reach another century mark, it's special. The first 100, 200, etc... They're all challenging in their own right and all mean something special when you get there. To be able to accomplish this at home in front of the home town fans means a lot. These fans have been supportive of me from the start. Hopefully the next 300 will all come here as well."

Mick has been rather consistent in his homerun hitting pace. He accomplished the 100 milestone late in his 3rd season as a big leaguer. The 200 mark came early into season 6 and now 300 midway through season 8. His was helped considerably with a torrid '34 and '35 season that saw him hit 51 and 43 homeruns respectively. At his current pace, he's projected to reach 400 either late in 2038 or early 2039.

With his 28 homeruns thus far this season and surpassing the 300 barrier, Mick has moved up to 4th on the all-time homeruns list in Madison history. He surpassed Bolt Vanderhugen for 4th on the list. Vanderhugen hit 591 career homeruns with 286 of those coming in a Madison uniform. Mick is now eyeing Cam Adams for 3rd all-time. Adams hit 359 homeruns in a Wolves uniform. Mick is projected to suprass him late next season. Mick will have a lot of work to do if he wants to catch Charles Puckett and Bopper Kengos for 2 and 1. Puckett has 689 in a Madison uniform while Kengos has 720.

Mick's next major milestone will be 1,000 RBI. He's currently 11 shy of that number.
