In an effort to try and fix the struggling Madison offense, the team announced this week that it was recalling struggling rookie 3B Ross Quicker (.191/.263/.270, 1 HR, 10 RBI) and sending down defensive specialist Ton Kouda (.247/.301/.327, 1 HR, 13 RBI) . The Wolves entered the week 13th in runs scored and dead last in slugging, extra base hits, and homeruns (those may all be connected. Who knew!?) Granted the club is also 13th in base hits so there is that as well.

"It's not that Quicker has been great this season" said Wolves General Manager Chris Wilson announcing the roster moves, "but we have to try something. Quicker is just 19 and we know there is some upside there. Yeah, his stats were bad earlier in the year but we've not been great all season offensively. With Kouda, we know what we are getting. He's reached his peak. We need the chance for some pop in the lineup and Quicker gives us more of a chance than Ton does in that regard."

With Kouda going down, the Wolves will be a little thin on backup infielders. Oliver Burrell (.229/.266/.322, 2 HR, 10 RBI) will assume the full-time duties at SS as he and Kouda were splitting time there and at the hot-corner. Justin Urban (.244/.320/.400, 3 HR, 12 RBI) will continue to play some platoon duties at both 2B and 3B, but Burrell will now likely play a bulk, if not all, of the games at SS for the Wolves this season unless a roster spot opens up. For that to happen, the Wolves would most likely have to send a pitcher through waivers, something the club isn't quite ready to do at the moment.

Things didn't improve much this past sim however as Quicker managed to just go 3 for 15 with a pair of doubles. Madison still managed to go 5-1 so stay tuned...
