Draft Day & the Wolves’ First-Round Pick
But my favorite time of year? The draft. The glorious annual pageant where 18–21-year-olds hand over their hopes, dreams, and ligaments to me like I’m Santa Claus with a payroll.
Nothing thrills me like sitting in the war room, sipping bourbon, glaring at the scouting staff until they stop trying to sell me a “gritty, undersized gamer with an 83 mph fastball,” and finally draft someone who looks like he could blow down a brick house.
And this year? Oh honey… we might have found a Jedi.
1st Round Selection — P Bill Summer (Nike Airs – COL)Nickname: Skywalker
Age: 21
Height/Weight: 5'11", 181 lbs
B/T: R/R
Birthplace: Jefferson City, TN
Hobby: Hopefully "not tearing his UCL"
Why We Love Him“Skywalker” doesn’t just pitch — he levitates baseballs past people.
- 261 Ks in 193.1 IP across three seasons
- 31% career K-rate — hitters questioning their life choices
- Throws SIX pitches (cutter, curveball, knucklecurve, slider, splitter, changeup)
- Cutter/curveball potential at 10–11
- Stuff potential at 7 — spicy
- Control potential rising like my blood pressure when Carlos Cruz sneezes during warmups
My Official Statement“Listen here, my darling Wolfpack: if this kid develops like our scouting nerds swear he will, he might just slice up the Frick League like a hot knife through overpriced butter.
I’m not saying he’s an ace yet. I’m saying he’s got the raw stuff to make hitters forget what daylight looks like.
And after watching half my rotation turn into a medical crime scene, I am VERY ready for someone whose limbs don’t explode when they sneeze.
"Welcome to Madison, Skywalker. Don’t make me regret this."
