Charlottesville Marching Ants Fall Just Short in Championship Series — Eyes Already on 2064

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Charlottesville, VA — The Charlottesville Marching Ants wrapped up another remarkable season with a hard-fought loss in the Championship Series, falling 2-1 to the Alamogordo Road Runners. While the sting of defeat still lingers, the organization is proud of what this team accomplished during the 2063 campaign.

Finishing the regular season with a 40-28 (.588) record, the Marching Ants once again proved they’re among the league’s most consistent contenders. This marks the third trip to the Championship Series in the last four years for Charlottesville, including a 2059 title and a memorable 2060 finals run.

“We wanted the ring, no doubt,” said General Manager Simon . “But you can’t overlook the effort and consistency this group showed all year. Getting to the finals isn’t easy — doing it three times in four seasons says everything about who we are as a team.”

In 2063, the Ants once again relied on a fundamentally sound approach at the plate and on the mound. Offensively, they posted a .264 team batting average, struck out just 458 times (4th best in the league), and finished 2nd in steals with 132. The pitching staff finished with a team ERA of 4.01, anchored by arms like Cyril Stratis and Rafiq bin Mujahid, both veterans of the Ants’ prior playoff runs.

The series against Alamogordo was a nail-biter — tight games, big defensive plays, and just a few key swings that tipped the series. But the Ants remain determined.

“Losing in the finals never feels good, but we’re building something here,” Gertie added. “Some of these kids will be moving up soon, and we’ll need to continue drafting and acquiring young talent to keep our pipeline flowing. The mission stays the same.”

The future is bright in the Ant Farm — and the team is already back to work.

To our fans, our players, and our staff — thank you for another unforgettable year. We’re not done yet.
