...the ultimate game is announced.
Then it hit her.
If she couldn’t buy a team yet, she’d do the next best thing—rent a stadium, bring back the greatest BBA legends, and host the most extravagant All-Star game in history.
The Announcement
Standing on the pitcher’s mound of an empty Madison Wolves stadium, Gertie faced the press. With a microphone in one hand and a hot dog in the other, she made the big reveal:
The crowd (consisting mostly of confused reporters and a few interns who just came for free snacks) went wild."I’m bringing the greatest BBA players of all time back onto the field for one final game! Two teams, one night, and a whole lotta baseball legends dusting off their cleats. Fans, get ready for the most ridiculous, over-the-top, once-in-a-lifetime baseball game you’ll ever see!"
Gertie continued:
Introducing… "THE LEGENDS versus THE TITANS! Two teams filled with Hall of Famers, cult favorites, and the best to ever play this game. I don’t care if they haven’t swung a bat in decades—I’m paying ‘em enough to show up and put on a show!"
She wasn’t kidding. She had signed 30 of the BBA’s greatest players to take part in this insane event, each getting a ridiculous paycheck just to lace up their cleats one last time.
Meet the Teams
Team 1: The Legends
- Stacked with Hall of Famers like Hank Brewer, Juan Escobar, Jared Gillstrom, and Charles Puckett..
- Featuring legendary pitchers Arthur Dempster, Danya Tchekanov , and Dan Cannon closing out the bullpen.
- Coached by a mystery manager that Gertie was keeping secret (but rumors swirled it could be a certain retired BBA GM).
Team 2: The Titans
- Led by powerhouses like Mark Simpson, Alfredo Salazar, Orlando Ordonez, and David Noboru.
- A pitching staff including Jeff Kiplinger, Michael Strathallan, and Jason Egan.
- Sporting a lineup so dangerous, Gertie joked she might have to install extra netting behind home plate.
The Press Conference Chaos
Reporters immediately started asking questions.
- How did she convince these guys to come back?
- What stadium would host this game?
- Would she be implementing any wild rule changes?
Gertie’s response?
"I threw enough money at them, and they said yes. As for the rules and venue? You’ll have to wait and see!"
Meanwhile, the retired players themselves started reacting to the news.
Hall of Famer Bopper Kengos said:
> “Gertie’s always been a little nuts, but this is the kind of crazy I can get behind. I don’t know if my knees will hold up, but hey, I’ll give it a shot.”
Hank Brewer, the legendary catcher, laughed when asked about the game:
> "I’ve been out of the game so long that I might need a full-time courtesy runner. But for one night? Hell, let’s do it.”
Pitching legend Danya Tchekanov had a simple response:
> "I still have five pitches and bad intentions.”
Some reporters pushed harder, asking if Gertie was planning anything else leading up to the event. She grinned.
Oh, don’t you worry. I still have a *lot* of money left to spend.
What’s Next?
With the teams locked in and the contracts signed, all that was left was for Gertie to choose a venue, announce the full rosters and promote the game, and make this the most ridiculous baseball spectacle in history.
But with millions still left to spend, what other surprises did she have in store?
