2007 V4 - Chicago Management Heads in new direction

Post by kestu » Wed Nov 07, 2012 2:57 pm

As the result of an overall organizational personnel shakeup following 3 months on the job, GM Keith Stuart announced that manager Renfred Washington had been relieved of this duties after only 287 games with the club.

Washington had been in the news lately after tearing apart his club on August 15th by claiming to be embarassed by the performance of the ballclub and throwing the team owner as well as the team GM under the bus. Well - less than a week later he's been both fined and now fired.

Below is a copy of the letter sent to Washington to notify him of his termination.

Washington leaves the team following a 98-189 record in his brief season and a half with the club.

Also fired were bench coach Mike Dinsdale and pitching coach John Barraclough.

The Black Sox promoted hitting coach Vincente Lopez from AA to replace Washington on an interim basis. Pitching coach Simon Wright was promoted from AAA to the same role with the big club. Several other promotions and demotions were made within the organization as the team tries to steady the ship while in the midst of their 9th consecutive losing season.

Typical! New owner wants to blame the manager. Like he was the one responsible for loading the team with scrubs!

He was pretty underqualified to be a big league manager. There will be some good free agents, and managers/coaches can make all the difference.

It was probably an afterthought. Keep your eyes peeled on the personnel throughout the next month when teams "forget" to re-hire their guys.
