2058.02 - Letter to Jenkins, from Ferguson dated 04/28/2058

Jenks,

I know you got my email but seriously, thank you for the card. Signed Melucci is definitely a keeper. The guy has become a regular guest over at The Beef. He's actually a pretty smart guy. And yes, I still do have the rookie Bodine you sent last year. It's around here somewhere.

Reason for the letter is I wanted to send you this photo I got of Pappap on the field. They were doing a thing honoring veterans so I took him early. Way early. A couple of the guys recognized us so they let us on the field while they were prepping. Pappap's still largely non-verbal but he was smiling and his eyes were bright. Uncle Nakazawa was there, too - he passes on his regards. He's doing well.

Anywho, Pappap's wearing that Moya jersey you got him last year!

Ain't that cool? Ever since the home opener (Moya's first start) I've made him wear it, or I drape it around his wheelchair, every time he's on the mound and he hasn't lost yet! Maybe there's some kind of correlation.

The game was against the Bluebirds so the Vinny V was packed even though it ended up raining. And we actually swept 'em. Moya was shaky as all get out but we were somehow able to hit Fleming and then it became a laugher. Final score was 11-2. Got to check out our old section. Bonner and Post were there and they say "Hello and F you" - typical. I tried to sneak into our go-to section behind the visitors dugout but it was so crowded they were actually doing security. But I did get the usual in your honor: a footlong Chicago-style from Hakubi's BBQ.

We lost yet another free agent signing! This time it was Bret Powers. He played what? All of 18 games? 1 measly home run. And we're on the hook for him next year if he takes his option. And why wouldn't he? So that makes Melucci, Tatlock, and now Powers that are out. The Beef was taking bets on who's next: He thinks it's going to be our new 2B, Saswata. Good hitter, though. Great fielder, too. Be a shame to lose him but I'd rather lose him than Al Krant.

Ferguson

p.s. Looks like your Jimmies might beat us for the first month! You guys have been on a tear. What's that Bruce Tyler been drinking?!

I hated giving up Moya in the Isam trade. Glad to see he's a beast.
